Toy Care & Safe Play
Different toys need different handling. The instructions and warnings supplied with the exact item take priority over this general guide. Check them before the first play session and keep them for future reference.
Check the activity before play
Confirm the recommended age, selected version and included parts. An adult should inspect the toy for damage, loose components and missing pieces. Stop using a damaged item and keep it out of reach until the issue is resolved. Age guidance is about safe use, not a promise of a particular learning outcome.
Small pieces, magnets and batteries
Keep small or loose pieces away from children who may put them in their mouths. Follow the exact warnings for magnetic construction items and battery-powered versions. Ensure any battery compartment is secured according to the supplied instructions. Do not use a toy with a damaged or unsecured battery or magnet enclosure.
Clean according to the material
Check the care label before washing fabric books or soft parts. Wipe wooden pieces only as their instructions allow and dry them thoroughly. Do not immerse electronic, paper or magnetic components unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it. Avoid adding cleaning chemicals or heat treatments not specified for the item.
Water and bath activities
Water play needs continuous adult supervision. A bath toy is not a flotation or safety device. After play, follow the item-specific draining and drying instructions and check for trapped moisture or damage before using it again.
Keep the next activity easy to find
Count loose pieces back into their container, store toys dry and separate items with different age requirements. For reusable water pages or mats, allow the surface to dry as instructed before storing. Make storage part of the play routine without placing unsuitable pieces within a younger child's reach.
